Entrepreneurs and delegations from more than 50 countries, as well as some 360 Cuban firms, will participate in the 37th Havana International Fair (FIHAV), from November 4 to 8 at the ExpoCuba fairgrounds, announced the presidency of the Organizing Committee of the event.

Headed by the Cuban head of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, a press conference was offered to announce the next celebration of the fair. Also participating were Orlando Hernández, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba; Abraham Maciques, general director of the Palco Business Group and Luis Carlos Góngora Domínguez, vice president of the Council of the Provincial Administration of Havana.

To date, 14 official delegations, headed by ministers and high-ranking officials, have been confirmed and 15 national days of foreign delegations will be held, said Minister Malmierca.

These figures reaffirm this event as one of the main of its kind in Latin America and the Caribbean, he said. More than 50 countries will be present and for the first time, in the Pavilion of Cuba, they will exhibit companies from all the provinces of the country; an effort that demonstrates Cuba’s interest in promoting exports.

This year the VI Investment Forum will be held and the new Portfolio of Business Opportunities with Foreign Investment will be presented. In this space, there will be three events organized by Germany, Mexico and the European Union, “which demonstrate the interest of the international market to invest in Cuba, despite the activation of Title III of the Helms Burton Act,” Malmierca added.

During FIHAV 2019, the Single Window of Foreign Trade will be presented, an initiative that will allow to computerize and simplify the processes of procedures related to the country’s imports and exports. Likewise, the Commercial Directory of the Republic of Cuba 2019-2021 will be announced, which brings together the business universe that performs foreign trade.

“The efforts of the United States Government to isolate us and create problems for our economy will fail, and the Fair will once again demonstrate the confidence of international entrepreneurs in the Cuban market,” said the Minister.

FIHAV is celebrated in the middle of a special situation due to the intensification of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States against our country, he denounced.

«We celebrate this twenty-seventh edition in a special situation. The blockade persists, intensified in recent times with absurd measures; but in any case the Fair is not only going to be held, but it is consolidated as one of the most important events in Latin America and the Caribbean, ”he said.

The president of the Chamber of Commerce, informed that about 152 national exhibitors will participate on the Cuban side, representing more than 360 companies on the island. He added that the Mariel Special Development Zone will move to another pavilion, where the more than 30 companies based in the area will accompany it.

«We will have presence of all provinces and all sectors of the economy. For the first time, two non-agricultural cooperatives will promote their products through the export channels of the country’s companies, dedicated to carrying out this process, ”explained Hernández Guillén.

During these days, more than 40 business delegations and promotional organizations from all over the world will live in the ExpoCuba Fair. Around seven forums will be organized, as well as meetings of the Business Committee.

For his part, the general director of the Palco Business Group and member of the Organizing Committee, explained that 23 of the 25 pavilions of the enclosure will be used. To date 15 official pavilions are planned, and the accreditation of more than two thousand foreign businessmen is expected, in addition to the presence of businessmen from the United States.

When comparing the event with previous years, he assured that «with respect to 2018, we will have the same level of participation and it is expected to be a good Fair, where commercial cooperations can be achieved».

The Fair will be dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Havana and for this, said the vice president of the Board of Directors, a broad cultural and business program is planned for all international visitors to know Havana.

On Tuesday, November 5, the fair is dedicated to Havana. That day the Entrepreneurs Forum of the capital will be developed, a space to look for business opportunities and show the potential of the Havana industry. The program is also set up with a broad cultural proposal that will allow you to show the town of San Cristóbal from multiple edges.
